When the Field Narrows and God’s Mercy Expands

In a place unfit even for passersby, standing “in the middle of the street” as she described it, a mother of Gaza’s orphans faces the world alone. She is the mother, the father, and the support system—carrying the heavy burdens of life while struggling to care for an infant who has never seen the face of his martyred father, all within a fragile tent that offers no protection from the scorching heat nor from invading rodents. Here, a decision had to be made—and Nasam Charity had to leave its mark.

1. Tragedy Behind the Tent Poles: The Struggle of a Martyr’s Widow

Since being displaced from northern Gaza, this family has endured extremely harsh humanitarian conditions. The mother speaks bitterly of how she became solely responsible for fetching water, securing food, and caring for her children in the absence of any support. The fear of the night and the rodents attacking her children haunted her constantly, yet her dignity pushed her to remain steadfast despite living in conditions “unfit for human beings.”

2. A “Breath of Decision”: Emergency Response Across Borders

Because generosity knows no geographical boundaries, the response came swiftly from the Land of Mesopotamia. Sister Umm Hassan from Iraq, with a heart full of compassion, made the decision to stand by this family. Through her generous contribution, Nasam Charity was able to reach the family and provide financial assistance of 3,000 ILS as an initial emergency response to secure their urgent needs and carry out essential repairs to their shelter.

This was not merely financial support—it was a message of love and solidarity. The impact left by Umm Hassan and the association in the hearts of these children goes far beyond material aid; it is the feeling that they are not alone in this world.
